API Terms
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Scope
These terms cover the FastOCR API (/v1) and the API keys you create at /developers/keys. They add to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which also apply. You accept them when you create an API key.
Your Account and Keys
- One person or organisation, one account. Do not create extra accounts to get more free pages.
- Keep your keys secret. Do not put them in web pages, mobile apps or public code.
- You are responsible for all use of your keys. If a key leaks, revoke it at once on the API keys page.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the API to:
- Process documents you have no right to process, including data scraped or collected from other people without a lawful basis
- Process illegal content, or content that infringes copyright or other people's privacy
- Get around rate limits, concurrency limits or page allowances, for example by spreading requests over several accounts or keys
- Probe, overload or attack the service, or try to reach other customers' data
Limits and the Free Allowance
- Requests are rate limited, and each account can process a limited number of documents at a time. Over a limit, the API answers
429; wait and retry. - Your account's monthly free pages and remaining page balance are shown on the API keys page. The free allowance is not guaranteed: we may change or end it.
- We may change rate and concurrency limits to protect the service.
Beta Status
The API is in beta. It comes with no uptime guarantee or service level agreement, and results are provided "as is"; check OCR output before you rely on it. We keep /v1 backward compatible: fields and error codes are added, not removed or renamed, and breaking changes ship as a new version.
Your Documents
- Your documents and results belong to you. We use them only to process your requests, and we do not sell them.
- As our Privacy Policy says, uploaded files and results are deleted automatically 30 days after upload. You can delete a document sooner with
DELETE /v1/documents/{id}. - Download links to results expire after one hour; request a new one when you need it.
Suspension
We may revoke keys or turn off API access for an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other customers at risk. Where we can, we will email you first.
Changes
When these terms change in a way that matters, we update the date above and ask you to accept the new version before you create your next key. Existing keys keep working.
