How We Use Your Information

• Process your files for OCR text extraction and translation
• Maintain your job history so you can revisit past results
• Track usage limits and manage your subscription
• Send service-related communications

Data Storage and Security

• Encryption at rest: All stored data — including your uploaded files and database records — is encrypted using AES-256 encryption
• Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS. We do not expose any unencrypted endpoints
• Secure authentication: Passwords are never stored in plain text and are never transmitted over the network in any form
• Access control: Your files and results are only accessible to you unless you explicitly share them

Data Retention

• Uploaded files: All uploaded files (images, PDFs, documents) are automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after upload
• OCR results: Your extracted text and job history are retained for 30 days so you can search and reference past work. After 30 days, this data is automatically and permanently deleted from our database.
• Account data: Retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time

Third-Party Services

Your files are processed and stored on Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. No other AI or OCR service receives them. We also use third-party providers for payment processing and email delivery. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function. Payment information is handled entirely by our payment processor — we never store your credit card details.

FastOCR Chrome Extension

• The extension reads text on your computer. What you select is not sent to us or anyone else.
• The first time you use a language other than English, its language data downloads once from jsDelivr, a public open-source CDN. The request names the language and nothing else.
• A file or a selected area goes to fastocr.org only when you click a button in the extension that sends it there. It waits in the uploader, and nothing is uploaded until you click Start.
• A file waiting to be sent is kept inside the extension for at most 15 minutes, then deleted.
• The extension has no analytics, no tracking and no account. It remembers only your language choice.

FastOCR for Mac and Windows

• The apps read your documents on your computer. Your files and their text are never sent to us or anyone else.
• The only thing the apps send is an update check to fastocr.org, at most once a day. It contains the app name and version, and nothing about you or your files.
• We count update checks and installer downloads anonymously in Google Analytics, by platform, app version and country. We do not keep your IP address. To tell checks from one computer apart within a day, we use a one-way code made from the IP address and the app or browser name and version. The code changes every day and cannot be turned back into the IP address.

Cookies

We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell your data to advertisers.
