Mark a document without changing its text

A text watermark labels a document as a draft, confidential or for a specific recipient. FastOCR draws the text on every page in your browser and saves a new PDF, leaving your original file untouched. Type the words, then choose a diagonal or horizontal angle. More options control opacity, size, color, a single centered mark or a repeated pattern, and whether the text sits over or behind the page. A long centered phrase is scaled down so it fits inside the page. Placement uses each page’s visible box and rotation, so sideways pages still show the mark upright. Existing text remains selectable because the watermark is added to the page rather than flattening it into a picture. A watermark is a visible label, not security: anyone with a PDF editor can remove it, so do not rely on it to protect secrets. Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation are supported today. Password-protected files must be unlocked first.

Questions

Can I change how faint the watermark is?

Yes. Open More options and set the opacity, size and color. A lower opacity keeps the page easier to read.

Can the watermark sit behind the page content?

Yes. Choose Behind the page content in More options. Pages with a solid background or full-page scan can hide a watermark drawn behind them.

Does it work with Arabic, Chinese or Cyrillic text?

Not yet. Watermarks currently support Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation, and the page tells you when a character is not supported instead of drawing blanks.

Does the watermark stay upright on rotated pages?

Yes. The text is placed using each page’s visible box and rotation, so it reads the same way on sideways pages.

Do I need to upload the PDF?

No. The watermark and the new PDF are created locally in the browser.
