Number pages the way readers expect
Page numbers help readers find a section, cite a page and confirm that nothing is missing from a printed packet. FastOCR adds the numbers inside your browser and saves them in a new PDF, so the original file is not overwritten. Choose one of six positions, a plain number, Page 1 or Page 1 of N, and open More options to set the first number, font size, margin from the edge or to skip the cover page. Numbers follow the page order currently shown, so reorder or delete pages in Organize first if the sequence matters. Each number is positioned using the visible page box and rotation, which keeps it upright in the corner even when a scan was saved sideways. Text already on the page stays selectable because the numbers are drawn over it rather than converting pages to pictures. Scanned pages remain images until you choose OCR separately. Password-protected files must be unlocked before they can be opened here.
Questions
Can I start numbering from a number other than 1?
Yes. Open More options and set the first number, for example 0 when a cover page should not count.
Can I leave the first page without a number?
Yes. Tick the option in More options. The second page keeps its position in the numbering.
Will numbers appear upright on rotated pages?
Yes. Each number is placed in the visible corner as the page is displayed, so sideways and upside-down pages are numbered correctly.
Does adding numbers change the existing text?
No. The numbers are added on top of each page and the original selectable text is left as it was.
Do I need to upload the PDF?
No. Numbering and the new PDF are created locally in the browser.
