Does the searchable PDF keep Arabic text right-to-left?
Yes. FastOCR places the recognized Arabic words in an invisible text layer under each page image, in right-to-left reading order. Ctrl+F finds Arabic words, and copied text pastes in the order you read it. The page you see is still your original scan. Some PDF viewers move end-of-line punctuation or a number to the other side when you copy, so check figures that matter.
Can FastOCR read documents that mix Arabic and English?
Yes. Latin words, brand names and numbers inside Arabic lines stay in the text layer, so you can search for them too. Check tables and forms with many short mixed-language cells, where reading order is harder to get right.
Does Arabic OCR work on handwritten text?
Partly. FastOCR reads some neat handwritten Arabic, but results vary widely with the writing style and the scan, and fast joined handwriting is often misread. Printed text in Naskh-style fonts is read far more reliably, so always check handwritten results.
Does FastOCR support Persian (Farsi) and Urdu?
Yes. Persian and Urdu are written in the Arabic script, and FastOCR reads both and builds the same right-to-left searchable PDF text layer for them. Urdu set in Nastaliq is harder to read than Naskh, so expect more errors on Nastaliq books.
How does FastOCR handle Arabic diacritics (tashkeel)?
FastOCR reads fatha, kasra, damma and other tashkeel marks when they are clear in the scan. Most modern Arabic print omits them, and small marks are the most common errors, so check fully vocalized text such as Quranic verses.
