Split a PDF into parts
Split a PDF into separate documents free, without uploading the original. Choose the pages or ranges you need, review the selection, and download the resulting PDFs in your browser. No account is needed. Text that is already selectable stays with each page, while scanned pages can be prepared for OCR afterwards.

Turn one document into separate attachments
Splitting a PDF creates smaller documents from the pages you choose. FastOCR reads the source locally and copies each requested range into a separate PDF, then packages the results for download. This is useful when a large packet contains several documents that need different recipients or when an application asks for attachments separately. Use the page thumbnails to check where each section begins and ends before creating the parts. Page numbers in the selection refer to positions in the file, which can differ from numbers printed on the paper. Existing selectable text stays attached to copied pages; splitting is not a screenshot operation. The original file is left unchanged, so you can choose different ranges again if a section needs adjusting. Scanned pages remain images until you deliberately send them through OCR. Password-protected documents need an unlocked copy before they can be opened. If you only need a few pages in one new document, Extract PDF pages is the more direct starting point.
Questions
How do I split a PDF into separate files?
Add a PDF, choose page ranges, and download the separate PDFs in a ZIP file.
Can I split out only one page?
Yes. A range containing one page creates a one-page PDF.
Does splitting change the source PDF?
No. The downloaded parts are new files. The PDF you selected is not overwritten.
Will the split files still be searchable?
Pages with existing selectable text keep that text. Splitting does not add text to scans.
Are the split PDFs uploaded?
No. The browser builds the output locally. Uploading to OCR requires a separate explicit action.
