Questions

Is it really free and private?

Yes. It runs in your browser, so your file never leaves your device and is not sent to FastOCR or anyone else. That costs us nothing, so it is free with no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.

Which file does QuickBooks need?

QuickBooks Online and Desktop import .qbo files. Quicken uses .qfx. Xero and most other apps use .ofx.

Will QuickBooks import the same rows twice?

No. Each row gets an ID made from its account ID, date, amount and description, so converting the same file again gives the same IDs and QuickBooks skips the rows it already has. If you change a row’s date, amount or description, that row gets a new ID and QuickBooks treats it as new. Type the same account ID under Advanced each time you convert an account, so overlapping exports from your bank stay safe too.

Can I use an Excel file?

Yes. Drop an .xlsx or .xls file and we read its first sheet. QIF files from Quicken work too.

My bank only gives me a PDF.

The FastOCR bank statement converter reads PDF and scanned statements and gives you the same files.
