  1. Scan at 300+ DPI. Thai characters are smaller and more detailed than Latin script. 150 DPI is insufficient for reliable recognition.
  2. Use high contrast. Thai loops and tails are subtle — low contrast between text and background causes character loss.
  3. Avoid skew. Even 2-3 degrees of skew can break tone mark alignment and confuse stacked character recognition.
  4. Select Thai language mode. Using a generic or mixed-language mode often produces worse results than dedicated Thai recognition.
  5. Post-process the output. Use spell-checking tools to catch word boundary errors that OCR engines commonly produce.
